Dr. Kerry L. Musick
Dr. Kerry L. MusickDoctor of Medicine

Dr. Musick was trained as a medical doctor and specialty trained as a psychiatrist at Texas Tech University Health Sciences School of Medicine. He was chief resident during his final year of residency. He is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

Dr. Musick is experienced in the management of psychiatric conditions. He has worked with patients in acute care inpatient psychiatric settings, with other physicians as a consultant regarding patients having psychiatric problems, and with patients in outpatient clinics. He works primarily with adults, ages 18-64, but also treats school age children, adolescents and geriatric persons ages 65+.

Dr. Musick is comfortable working with individuals with severe problems such as suicidality and other major mental illnesses. Conditions that are treated include:
Mood disorders such as major depression, bipolar, disruptive mood dysregulation
anxiety disorders, such as panic attacks, post-traumatic stress, social anxiety
thought disorders, such as hallucinations, disorganization, paranoia, delusions, impaired cognition, neurodevelopmental disorders, such as attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, tic disorder, substance use disorders and other addictive disorders

Kim Winson
Kim Winson Nurse Practioner

Kim is excited to join the team at Musick Pyschiatry and Psychotherapy Associates! She trained at Duke University, as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. After working in primary care pediatrics for five years, she pursued her interests in developmental and behavioral pediatrics, as well as pediatric psychiatry. Kim is a board certified Pediatric Mental Health Specialist. Her professional interests include ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Anxiety, Depression, and other concerns. Kim enjoys running, sewing, cooking, and snuggles with her cat, Ozzie.

Suzie Jones
Suzie JonesLicensed Therapist

Suzie has extensive experience working in mental health using several different unique modalities including sand tray and expressive art. Suzie is passionate about helping children and adults through physical, emotional or sexual abuse. After completing her Masters Degree at Liberty University, she held an internship position at Transitional Counseling Center working with the sex offender population while earning her Provisional Sex Offender Treatment Provider (PSOTP) certification. At the same time Suzie worked at Riverside Hospital conducting groups with schizophrenia clients in a day program unit. She later worked in a private practice setting working with a sex therapist with a focus on the LGBT, transgender and sex addiction population. She has also completed her training as an Approved Clinical Supervisor. Suzie has also completed her training in EMDR, a trauma focused psychotherapy, one of the most studied treatment for PTSD and found this very effective with the VA clients she is currently serving. Suzie has also worked in various roles associated with crisis intervention and volunteered at a domestic violence shelter for women and children.

Suzie believes that each individual is unique. Her treatment approach is customized to bring greater self-awareness, psychological healing, and inner satisfaction. Suzie has extensive experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in treating psychosis, anxiety disorders, depression, self-esteem issues, mood disorders, and other issues faced in the journey of life. In addition to providing wellness counseling, she works with multiple issues requiring mild to more intensive therapy skills and complicated grief, caregiver, and mood management issues. Therefore, Suzie believes it is important to incorporate a knowledge of one’s thinking process to overcome a negative feeling.

Christina “Christy” Brengel
Christina “Christy” BrengelLicensed Therapist

Christina “Christy” Brengel MSW, LCSW, earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Master’s degree in Social Work, both from Appalachian State University. She became fully licensed as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in 2012. Christy has worked in inpatient and outpatient Psychiatric settings since 2009. She is also a Certified Clinical Supervisor.

Christy has particular interest in treating adults experiencing Depression and other Mood Disorders, Anxiety, and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Christy utilizes a variety of therapeutic approaches in her Psychotherapy practice including: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Solutions-Focused Therapy, Supportive Therapy, Emotionally Focused, Psychodynamic, and Interpersonal Psychotherapy. She tailors her psychotherapy practice with a humanistic emphasis, focusing on client centered approaches to help clients gain the ability to cope with stressors and symptoms effectively.

Anna Soper
Anna SoperLicensed Therapist

Anna has a Master of Arts/Educational Specialist in Mental Health Counseling from Gardner Webb University in 2012. She has dual licensure as a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist (LCAS), and Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHC – A).

Anna has over sixteen years experience working in the Mental Health and Substance Abuse field. She has a passion for adults who struggle with mental health and/or need help with substance use, abuse, or dependence. Anna also has over ten years experience working with developmentally disabled individuals.

Anna believes that counseling is a joint effort between counselor and client. She wants therapy to be a safe place where you feel open to share and begin the challenging work towards healing.

Anna’s approach to counseling incorporates various strength based therapeutic techniques such as: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy, Relapse Prevention, Motivational Interviewing, and Animal Assisted Therapy In Counseling (AATC).

When not at work, Anna enjoys spending time with her family, doing crafts and grooming her three standard poodles, who often accompany her as trained “co-therapist” to sessions.

Katie McIntosh
Katie McIntoshLicensed Therapist

Katherine “Katie” McIntosh, MSW, LCSW, earned her bachelor’s degree at the University of South Carolina at Columbia and her Master of Social Work Degree at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

Katie has experience working in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Katie understands that each client is unique, therefore she uses several modalities for treatment depending on client needs. These modalities include: cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, family systems therapy, as well as solution focused therapy.

Katie enjoys working with a variety of populations, including women in life transitions, individuals with weight related issues, disordered eating, those struggling with family dynamics and individuals dealing with anxiety and depression. Katie has experience in bariatrics, completing pre-surgical evaluations and providing pre and post surgical counseling.

When Katie is not working, she enjoys spending time with her family, friends and two dogs, as well as experiencing new adventures.
